Our Green Homes

We have planning permission!

January 30, 2019 By Rachel 2 Comments

At last, after over a year of to-ing and fro-ing about noise levels, facing colours, turning circles for bin lorries and the rest, we’ve got there!

The planning committee met yesterday and unanimously approved the application, showing the huge support there is for sustainable housing. Thank-you Sheffield councillors for your forward thinking views! And huge thanks to our architect Paul Testa and the rest of the team for rising to the challenge. This is the first of what we hope will be many small scale Passivhaus projects for ‘ordinary’ people.

As Andy says, ‘This is the end of the beginning’! Now we can really get started. Expect to start hearing a lot more from us as we get going on the real business of building homes!

I can feel the houses starting to grow on site already!

      Thanks Muriel, that’s kind!

We’re getting it sorted as fast as we can, the first thing you’ll see will be a ground survey where they will come and drill down to work out how firm the base is and what is underneath. We’ll need this info for the foundations, water storage tanks and ground source heat pumps. That should happen within a month or so.

We’re hoping to have them fully up and ready for families by Spring 2020. To find out what’s going on, you could get our newsletter.

Love the idea of these houses but, what about the people who would actually benefit from low cost housing? eg low income families, or people trying to get back on their feet after losing everything they had, why are these brilliant ideas always done for/ targeted at people with plenty of income?
